Out of state xd9 from FFL (Ca approved)`

planning on purchasing a xd9 (for price reasons) from out of state FFl, they are ca approved.

I haven't actually seen pics of the firearm, are there an variations of models I need to be concerned about, for roster reasons?

I am assuming I am buying the double stack 9mm sub compact, which of course is the xd9.

Thank you for your valuable time.

The only way to know for sure is to find the SKU number and compare.

Also keep in mind that the Dealer on your end is going to charge you a fee to do the reg

I do not think it will be cheaper to do what you are talking about by the time you are all said and done

That depends on where you're located. I purchased my xd9 online, $411 shipped. Add $50 for transfer that's $461+ dros and tax. The closest gun store wanted $499 + dros and tax, when they're in stock, it wasnt. The next place is a 40 minute drive one way and they wanted $475 + dros and tax.

So yes, when it's all said and done you can save.

It's best to look up the model number to make sure it is the 10rnd magazine kit. In the case of the xd9 the gun itself is the same only difference is mag capacity or some kits include a holster and mag holder.

Not all xd9 are the sub compact version, mine is the 4" barrel (not sub compact). Again the model number helps.

Looks like xd9801 is the sub model with 10 round mags

            What he said ^^^

I have purchased several handguns via out of state PPT, its a little work communicating with buyer, but I have saved about 10-20% on average after expenses and fees. I would love to keep purchase local but the prices are so inflated, even on calguns the ask prices for some private party guns is a little nuts. Just because some sellers overpaid doesn't mean I should or will. If there was less of a difference in prices, I would keep my money local.
